Biography of Homer by Chloe Caldi

The life of the famous poet, Homer, is mainly a mystery. He is a well known poet, and some of his best works are The Iliad and The Odyssey, two famous epic poems. Homer was born between the 12th and 18th centuries, B.C., and was thought to have lived along the coast of Asia Minor. There is some speculation as to whether or not Homer was one man; some historians believe that a group of people wrote what is considered to be his work. Some question if Homer existed at all. Despite the mystery of who he was as a person, his work speaks for itself. He is the godfather of Greek culture, and the people of Greece celebrate him as such. Homer was not a typical poet, his style of writing does not reflect any Shakespearean elements at all. He wrote his epic poems with a strong rhythm, one that suggests that when it was originally performed it was accompanied by music. Homer's contributions to history have made long-lasting impacts, and his work is studied worldwide.
