Eragon Summer Reading Summary by Carly Piniaha

For the 2016-2017 school year students were allowed to read a book of their choice as one of their summer reading books. One of the choices for the books was Eragon by Christopher Paolini. This book follows the life of a young boy named Eragon whose life changes completely when he finds a strange rock in the forest. After a couple days the rock begins to break and out comes a dragon. A story teller, Brom, recognizes Eragon as a dragon rider and tells him of the dangers of King Galbatorix. Galbatorix himself is a dragon rider who overthrew the empire with the help of other evil dragon riders. Now, to secure his power as Emperor Galbatorix hunts down dragon riders and gives them the choice to either join him or die. When Galbatorix discovers Eragon and his dragon he sends monsters under his control to destroy Eragon's home, killing his uncle. Eragon embarks on a journey to avenge his Uncle's death and learn more about his new powers with Brom. Overall Eragon was a good story with a boy who comes to realize his inner strength throughout the course of the book. This book is one I would recommend to people who enjoy science-fiction. The author of this book was only 14 at the time of writing the first book, which gives a younger flare to the writing style.
